Author's Journey
In 1988, Liana Nicoara-Parfitt risked everything to escape the oppressive grip of Communist Romania.
Her journey, fraught with danger and courage, led her to new beginnings and painful truths about identity, family and survival.
From daring border escapes to heartbreaking personal loss, Liana’s memoir is a testament to resilience in the face of fear.
Her story of defection, healing and rediscovering home spans decades and continents, revealing the unbeatable will to seek freedom and the price paid for it.
"Today, I live with my husband Neil just outside Cambridge.
We are enjoying our life together, finding joy in the small things, and looking forward to what the future holds.
We have plans to move to North Devon, where we hope to enjoy a peaceful retirement by the sea. It feels like the right ending to a life that has been full of twists and turns, ups and downs.
We will continue our travelling and exploring the world.
I look forward to the final chapters of our story, which together we are still writing."
